Mizoram is a state of northeastern India. And most of the region is its natural form, due to less exposure to tourists. Mizoram got its name from Mizo hills in the region. Mizoram have scenic beauty with dramatic landscape. And it is home of Dampa Tiger reserve and Murlen National Park where one can see variety of animals like wild water buffalo and Sumatran rhinoceros. The state also has the great fall ‘Vantawng Falls’ which is a two-tiered waterfall with a total height of 229 metres. Kawtchhuah Ropui is a cluster of megaliths found near Vangchhia Village. Nearly 200 stones were erected. Those stones were dressed with embossed figures. It was declared as National Importance of Heritage in India.
Foreign tourists are required to obtain an ‘inner line permit’ under the special permit before visiting. The permit can be obtained from Indian missions abroad for a limited number of days or direct from Mizoram Government authorities within India.
Place of tourists attraction in Mizoram
Aizwal –It is the capital city of Mizoram state, have many tourist point to explore like nearby hill stations of Reiek and Hmuifang, State museum of Mizoram is about the tradition and culture of Mizo people and Solomon’s Temple.
Champhai- located at an altitude of 1678 metres, the town gives you an amazing view of valley and adjoining hill ranges of Myanmar. Murlen National Park , Muru Puk caves, Lake of Rih dil and Hnahlan is a grape growing area which is very close to Champhai with vineyards and beautiful climate.
Khawbung is a sub-town located in Champhai District. The village has an interesting tourist site“Mizo Poets’ Square”, which is also known as Mizo Hlakungpui Mual. And cluster of megaliths in Kawtchhuah Ropui. Another site Puanvawrh Puk is a natural cave at the toe of Puanvawrh Cliff, ideal place for adventure sports.
Thenzawl a beautiful town in the middle of Mizoram, have waterfalls of Vantawang fall and Tuirihiau at a distance of 5 km from town, and nearby cave Chawngchilhi Puk had a love story between a lady and a snake.
How to reach Mizoram
Air: Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram has a domestic airport and is well-connected through regular daily flights to many cities like Guwahati, Imphal and Kolkata.
Rail: Mizoram is connected through its rail head in Bairabi in Kolasib District.
Mizoram is connected through National Highway 54 from Silchar and Assam. Mizoram State Transport buses ply regularly from Aizawl to Guwahati, Silchar and Shillong.
It must be noted that tourists need a special Inner Line Permit (ILP) to enter Mizoram (Indian nationals too, except Mizos), which can be obtained from Mizoram house in Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati, Shillong, and Silchar.
